Call for Papers: Adaptation: Film, Literature and Culture

34th Annual Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Associations Conference February 13-16, 2013

Proposal submission deadline: November 16, 2012

Join us this year, as a returning or first-time participant, in the Adaptation area, a long standing, well-represented area with outstanding past presentations.

The Adaptation Area this year encompasses traditional approaches to adaption, including:
Adaptation theory
Novel-to-film, novel-to-TV, TV-to-film, or film-to-TV adaptations Genre adaptation (homage, parody, etc.) Stage-to-screen adaptation (excluding Shakespeare) Film remakes (Dredd, Total Recall, The Amazing Spiderman, Red Dawn, etc.) Games, songs, cartoons, graphic novels and comic books to film adaptation.

Special topics this year include:
Sherlock Holmes  (including the Guy Ritchie, BBC, and CBS adaptations) The Hobbit On the Road

Graduate students are encouraged to submit their papers to the Post Script Graduate Student Award or to other awards, as appropriate.  Please visit http://swtxpca.org/documents/48.html for a complete listing of the awards.

Submissions must be entered directly into the conference database at http://conference2013.swtxpca.org/.  Submission deadline is November 16, 2012.  Submissions should include a current curriculum vitae, a working bibliography, and a 250-word abstract.
